New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1937. hardcover. fair. Harrison Cady. Book is missing dust jacket. Blue boards with navy printing on front and spine. Spine has ink stain. Boards show some wear, with age darkening, bumping, and some staining. Endpapers feature Smiling Pool scene with animals printed in green and beige. Prior owner's name present. Includes four full page illustrations on glossy paper - all present. Pages unmarked, but the stain on the cover extends into the textblock and some pages show water stain on the lower edge, seeping up about half way near the gutter. Grosset and Dunlap hard cover, 1921 edition but probably printed in 1930s, 205 pages, illustrations by Harrison Cady. 12mo (5"" x 7.5"") Lightfoot the Dear, by Thornton W. Burgess, is #1 in the Green Forest Series, followed by Blacky the Crow and others. Originally published by Little, Brown & Company, this is the Grosset and Dunlap reprint. Dated through binding style. ""Men are strange creatures! I think I'll hunt one some day just to teach him a lesson,"" says Lightfoot the Deer to his new friend, Peter Rabbit. Lightfoot is glad of all the animal friends he meets in the Green Forest -- especially Paddy the Beaver, who saves him from harm. But what about these men? There's that strange one -- the farmer.
