A first edition copy of this amusing work on boarding school life by John Hay Beith, under the penname Ian Hay, in lovely condition. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Illustrated with 12 colour plates reproduced from pastel drawings by Lewis Baumer. A further illustration is pasted to the front free end paper. Collated, complete. Major General John Hay Beith (1876-1952), was a British schoolmaster and soldier, but is best remembered as a novelist, playwright, essayist, and historian who wrote under the pen name Ian Hay. In this work he provides entertaining portraits of boarding school teachers and boys with descriptions of life in these schools. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with some faint marks to the rear board and a little fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
