New York: Harper & Row, Publishers, 1981. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. Later Printing. Inscribed and with a drawing by Silverstein on the front endpaper. Fine in a Very Good jacket, unclipped (no price), bumped and frayed at the top edge. Grey cloth with gilt lettering and designs on the spine and front board, a small stain at the bottom edge. Square and firmly bound, clean internally. This copy is inscribed to a "Joel" who seemingly helped in the production of the album adaptation of Silverstein's acclaimed first collection of children's poetry Where the Sidewalk Ends. The album won a Grammy for Best Recording for Children, and Silverstein makes a humorous reference to the album's sales by instructing Joel to color the record "gold silver platinum or purple.
Synopsis
A Light in the Attic is a collection of poems by the American poet, Playboy Magazine writer, and children's writer Shel Silverstein. It was first published by HarperCollins in 1981. The poems for children are accompanied by illustrations also created by Shel Silverstein.
