About This Item
Macmillan and Co., 1880. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 2nd Edition. Two volume set with bookplates from the American book collector A. Edward Newton. Breathtaking covers of great beauty, with splendid, sparkling gilt-bedecked flower and star design on blue-green cloth. Volume I is amazingly fresh and Vol II is a little more worn, with chief flaw of a split spine on one edge (could be easily repaired). Copiously illustrated including Blake's own works. Frontispiece of Blake with tissue guard. Firm binding, though all hinges are cracked. Foxing to endpapers but pages themselves are clean, except for those with illustrations (different paper content). Poems are selected by Dante Gariel Rossetti. Very splendid set in generally very good condition. Benefits the Friends of the Albany, CA library. .
