London: The Art Journal Office, 1882. Book. Illus. by frontispiece engraving of Bewick and 100 Bewick woodcuts. Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Original publisher brown cloth with a lighter brown panel on the front cover that includes the title and a Bewick bird on a branch. Corners bumped, spine ends worn, spine darkened with the gilt from the title worn off. Back hinge has a three inch tear near the bottom, but hinges for this large book are solid. The publisher made two sizes of this production, and this is the large paper edition of which only 75 copies were made, this being number 42. Title continues, "with an Account of His Career and Achievements in Art , with a Notice of the Works of John Bewick". Exceptionally clean inside. Book plate of Edward Bellamy, and no other prior owner marks. .
