About This Item
Navy Records Society, 1922. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. This is a two-volume set; volume one (LIV) published in 1920, and volume 2 (LVI) in 1922. The interior of the book is clean and tight. The deckle-edged pages have not been cut, but the edges have darkened. The rear endpapers have been stamped by the National Librrary of Canada, but this book shows no signs that it has been in a library collection. The white and black covers show some handling and minor fading to the black spine. Overall, a tidy set. Synopsis: Mainwaring was an important figure in the Stuart navy. According to Wikipedia, Henry Mainwaring (1587-1653), in his early career was a pirate based in Newfoundland and then a naval officer with the Royal Navy, where he was actively involved in the suppression of piracy.
