Fading to spines, a few stains to front board of Volume I, damp staining to rear board of Volume III. Page edges untrimmed. Cracking to endpaper joints but securely bound. Light foxing to leading and trailing blanks. Clean text throughout. From the library of British Liberal politician Robert Duncombe Shafto, with his bookplate to front endpapers (two of them upside down). Note pasted to front free endpaper in all volumes: 'Presented to the library at Whitworth Park by Rosa Duncome Shafto 1895'. A later owner's embossed name stamp to half title page in all volumes. Scarce complete set. Overall condition is Good Plus.
