Navy blue faille covers, with designs and lettering in gilt on front and spine and embossed on back cover are clean and unfaded but frayed on spine ends and rubbed on corners.. Pages are clean with faintest age tanning and gilt top edge. No dust jacket. 625 indexed, annotated pages, with 17 plates (all present) including group pages with cameo portraits of: Anti-Slavery Leaders of Congress of 1845 (Brinkerhoff, Rathbun, Hale, Adams, King & Wilmot); Early Associates in the Senate (Clay, Calhoun, Webster, Davis & Benton): Ante-Bellum Maine Leaders (Enoch Lincoln, Haines, Fessenden, Kent, Hubbard, Fairfield); ; Republican Leaders in Congress of 1861 (Fessenbden, Wilson, Chandler, Morrill & Wade); Republican Leaders in Maine (Morrill, Washburn, Talbot, Blaine, Marble, Boutello & Reed); and, Later Associates in Congress (Windom, Thurman, Howe, Hoar, Dawes, McKinley. 10x6.5x1.75"
