London: Archibald Constable & Co, 1899. First edition. Hardback. Good/No Jacket. 2650 8vo. Title continues: "with which is Incorporated the Story of the Atlantic Cable, and the First Telegraph to India and the Colonies". Two volumes, complete, half leather on brown cloth-covered boards, gilt motif (Institution of Civil Engineers) to front boards, all edges marbled, marbled end papers, award label to front paste downs (to Julian Elton Young). Undated- date from COPAC. Condition notes: Leather worn and rubbed, front board of Volume 1 retained by cords and end-papers but joint strained. Some foxing/spotting; plates etc (many folding) as called for.
