Full blind ruled tan leather, gilt lettering on brown title label on spine with 4 raised bands and gilt decorated panels, 8vo, 325 pp., all edges of text block marbled, marbled end papers. Owners bookplate on front paste-down, dated 1847, no marks in book, pages clean with no foxing. Title page creased at bottom. Covers show light edge wear, binding tight. Uncommon account of service in the British Army by an enlisted man. William Taylor was born in 1805 in London and enlisted in the British Army in 1825, serving in the 4th Light Dragoons. He served in India from 1825 to 1842, and participated in the First Afgan War. Book condition VG.
