VG (Ex-library, with usual library markings, bookplate on front inside cover, pocket at back inside cover, perforation stamp used on illus., pages are good with a few corners missing, frontispiece has detached but is present, hinges are good, rebound cover shows minimal wear, a fat book at 2.5 inches.). Blue cloth, library binding, xv, 632 pp., 20 BW illus., map. Donald Alexander Smith (1820-1914) was the first Baron Strathcona & Mount Royal.. He was a Scottish-born Canadian who became a builder and a philanthropist. This biography was also released as a two-volume set by Houghton Mifflin. Please note that this edition is a single, thick volume.
