Hartford.: F.A. Brown, 1856. Covers embossed floral designs in blind-stamp. Gilt medallion front cover, gilt lettering and Hale Monument on spine. Spine sunned to tan. Crack at rear of top 2 1/2" of spine, reglued. Spine ends frayed. White endpapers with floral designs. Bookplate on front pastedown. Embossed bookseller's stamp on a front preliminary page. Illustrated with full-page black and white plates with tissue-guards, with additional drawing in the text. Light foxing noted, some peripherally on a few plates. A very tight copy. Twelve pages of testimonials at the end attesting to the merits of the book. 271pp.. Second Edition. Brown Cloth. Light Edge Wear/No Jacket. Octavo.
