Pages and binding are presentable with no major defects. Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Overall a good condition item. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Unclipped jacket has light edge wear with minor chipping and creasing. Some tanning and foxing to all surfaces, particularly to spine.

London: Collins, 1946 Beautiful book with nice protective cover. Same design with castle is on both. Dark blue with letters and trim on front and spine. No internal markings. Slight outer wear shows on protective cover and book, inside there is slight browning at crease due to age. Tight and very good shape. The artwork is very nice. 8 plates in colour and 21 illustrations in black and white. Artwork from the ages, 1824, 1749, 1891 and numerous. Wonderful history. Janet Adam Smith (9 December 1905 ¿ 11 September 1999) was a writer, editor, literary journalist and champion of Scottish literature. She was active from the 1930s through to the end of the century and noted for her elegant prose, her penetrating judgement, her independence of mind ¿ and her deep love of mountains and mountaineering.
