About This Item
Paris, Libr. Plon, 1931, 8vo, pp. 298; blue printed wrappers. - First French edition of Greene's first novel, "The Man within" (1929; adapted into film as "The Smugglers", 1947). His second book, a modest success, and this French translation was also Greene's first book to appear in France. Now quite rare, as it was published in a limited and numbered edition of 1355 copies, of which this is one of 1270 on alfa paper. - Small imperfection at the extreme lower end of the spine; some mild foxing in the first and last leaves and at side edges, but a quite good copy of a fragile book, unread, in collector's condition. - [Extra shipping cost will be charged for destinations out with Europe].
