About This Item

New York, NY Walker & Company, 1967. Hardcover First Ed, so stated. First Ed, so stated. Good: moderate wear to extremities; some darkening, smudges and soiling. Closed tear at bottom front gutter and along front side of backstrip has been glue-repaired and seems to be holding solidly. Binding square and remains secure; text clean. Overall, remains a clean, sturdy copy. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Squarish 4to. 156pp. Hardback: Lacks DJ. Lewis Hine was a crusader. He set out to unmask the inhumanity of American industrial society, and his main weapon was his camera. Because he was an artist as well as a reformer, there is in even the most violent of his photographs a haunting beauty that gives them a timeless relevance and impact.
