Brick red full cloth boards with rounded or beveled effect, gilt cover and spine design, titles, moderate shelf wear, spine chip, discoloration. Front cover with intriguing design of the Wonderland griffin and the white rabbit. Front blank endpaper removed. Pages generally good; few with moderate fox. Frontispiece monochrome plate of Lewis Carroll writing. Illustrated throughout with full and partial-page designs and photographs by both Lewis Carroll himself and John Tennial who created the first popular imagery for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. String-bind good, square; few places starting. Solid, intriguing first edition. Fascinating collection, includes: "Alice on the Stage"; "The Vision of the Three Ts"; "The Blank Cheque"; "The New Belfry of Christ Church, Oxford and Isa's Visit to Oxford. Other illiustrations include photos by Lewis Carroll.
