Buffalo NY: A.W. Wilgus, 1843. First edition. "Embodying, Also, Letters Descriptive Of Personal Appeals In Behalf Of Her Husband, And His Fellow Prisoners... By Mrs. B. Wait." As a result of his participation in the Rebellion of 1837, Wait was convicted of high treason and condemned to death. He escaped to the US, only to learn that he had received a pardon in 1842. See Ferguson 3762 - "... this volume shows Mrs. Wait to have been a woman of exceptional force of character." This is followed by 2 1/2 pages of notes regarding the book, its publishing history, and the Waits. Also Lande 2283 and Sabin 100969. Bound in full calf with black spine label. Covers worn. Front hinge cracked but holding. Frontispiece and title page foxed, the rest of the text is clean.. 16 cm. vi-356 pp. b/w frontispiece and folding map.
