New York: Schappes Defense Committee, 1941. Paperback. vi, 119p., slender paperback, very good. *Seidman S27. Prison letters written after the author's conviction for perjury in his testimony before the Rapp-Coudert Committee, which was investigating communists in New York's educational system. Schappes had claimed he only knew three members of the Communist Party at City College, naming only people who were dead or already well-known, in an effort to protect others from discovery.
