About This Item

New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux , 2005. First edition. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. 9.5" by 6" . None . A lovely first US edition of the letters of Lytton Strachey, prominent member of the Bloomsbury Group. The first US edition of this work, preceded by the true first UK edition in the same year. A collection of the letters of Lytton Strachey, one of the key literary figures in the twentieth century, which give a unique insight into his life, work, and friendships, as well as into the unconventional love affair with artists Dora Carrington. Ranging from childhood letters to those written to Leonard and Virginia Woolf and other members of the Bloomsbury Group, and love letters to Dora Carrington and Duncan Grant. Edited by Paul Levy assisted by Penelope Marcus. Complete with the unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally lovely with only minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. The dust wrapper is unclipped and excellent, with minor shelf wear only, some sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Fine
