Description:
London: Longman, Rees, and Co., 1828. Leather. Very Good. 6.5" by 4". None. A very smart collection of letters from 17th century noblewoman, Lady Rachel Russell. A very smart ninth edition in a full calf binding. Lady Rachel Russell (1636 – 1723) was an English noblewoman, heiress, and author. Russell"s second husband was William, Lord Russell, who was implicated in the Rye House Plot and later executed. Her numerous letters, published in 1773, were written mainly to her husband, but also to many distinguished men such as the Archbishop of Canteburry. Her letters provide an insightful look at domestic life in 17th century England. In a full calf binding with gilt title and decoration to the spine. Externally, very smart, with some very minor rubbing to the extremities. Library bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with some very light spotting, particularly to the endpapers. Very Good
