Bantam Press, 1996. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG++/NF. 1st Edition, 1st Printing. 15.7 x 22 cm purple boards gilt stamped titles to the spine. 333(1)pp in original unclipped jacket priced at �15.99. Signed and inscribed by the author to the title page. A touch of pushing to the corners and foot of the spine, a little rubbing to the foot of the spine. and two tiny dimple dents on the front board. Internally, the book is clean with just the merest hint of uniform toning to the page edges and the author's signature and inscription to the title page. The dust jacket, which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown), is in excellent condition with no loss or rubbing. Synopsis
David Gemmell was born in London, England, in the summer of 1948. Expelled from school at sixteen for organizing a gambling syndicate, he became a laborer by day, and at night his six-foot-four-inch, 230-pound frame allowed him to earn extra money as a bouncer working nightclubs in Soho. Born with a silver tongue, Gemmell rarely needed to bounce customers, relying on his gift of gab to talk his way out of trouble. At eighteen this talent led to a job as a trainee journalist, and he eventually worked as a freelancer for the London Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, and Daily Express. His first novel, Legend, was published in 1984 and has remained in print ever since. He became a full-time writer in 1986.
