The General, considered to be a competant, able miliary leader, served under Gen. Robert E. Lee and Gen. Braxton Bragg, but had disputes and disagreements with both. As a consequence, he was little-used during the latter part of the war. Includes numerous maps. Indexed. --- In full orange & brown paper-covered boards with gilt-stamped spine titling.
