London: John Murray, 1804., 1804. First edition in English. Translated from the French by M. Farrell. Two volumes (complete). 8vos. xii, 372 pp; viii, 339 pp. + [4] pp. Ads. Illustrated with four engraved plates. Rebound in modern 1/2 white cloth and paper-covered boards; printed papers spinal labels. Baron Alexis Boyer (1757-1833) was the son of a tailor, first obtained medical knowledge in the shop of a barber surgeon, then came to Paris to study under Desault and Antoine Louis (1723-1992) becoming known for his anatomic knowledge and surgical dexterity. In 1805 Napoleon promoted Boyer to status of imperial family surgeon, and after successful campaigns of 1806 and 1807, conferred on him the Legion of Honor. The title page is soiled, edge browning/soil and some page soil in Vol. 1, else in general the pages are quite bright. Very good. Very scarce in the first edition.. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good.
