Text in French. No. 36 in the series "Les Beaux Livres." A very attractive and colorful volume with a bounty of pochoir-colored illustrations by Alfred Le Petit (1841-1909), a French painter, photographer, cartoonist, and founder of several satirical broadsheets. He was ardently anti Napoleon III and anticlerical, but in this work he displays his more serene and lyrical paintbrush to accompany the 1888 story by Naturalist writer Guy de Maupassant (1850 - 1893), the diary of a nine-day cruise along the Côte d'Azur.
