The first edition, first impression of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. A smart copy of Aldington's infamous biography of T. E. Lawrence, which caused a scandal upon its publication in 1955. In this bitter but interesting memoir of Lawrence's life, Aldington states that he was an "impudent mythomaniac", a "self-important egotist", a poor writer and even a bad motorcyclist. This work greatly influenced popular opinion of Lawrence, the British army officer, diplomat and archaeologist renowned for the role he played during the Arab Revolt (1916-1918) and for his autobiography 'Seven Pillars of Wisdom'. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with fading to the spine and light shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
