Utica, NY: William W. Smith, 1895 This is an unnumbered Limited Edition of 200 copies "Printed at the Courier Press, of Clinton, New York, 1895." (colophon) Hard cover, demy 8vo (measuring 5 1/4 x 8 inches), in green cloth with banded gilding to boards and titles to upper left, and on the spine, 101 pp. Ex-Bowdoin College Library, with their withdrawal sticker. Inscribed presentation copy to same " from the Author" upon ffep. Library embossed stamp to title page. Printed on laid paper. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Condition: Very Good Plus. Very minor shelfwear at head and foot of spine, light toning. Very clean. Vintage hand inked library sticker to front board. The Author, Melancthon Woolsey Stryker, (1851-1829) was a graduate, and later 9th President, of New York's Hamilton College from 1893 to 1917. An ordained Presbyterian minister, he composed and published a number of volumes of verse and hymns. Much of his verses refer to the life of learning. OCLC 3181989. .
