Page edges uniformly tanned, else a fine bright copy in dust jacket with one tiny closed tear to top edge of front panel. Chief Inspector Morse is troubled by the disappearance of Valerie Taylor, a student who on her way back to school mysteriously disappears. After two years, Valerie is presumed dead. But if she's dead, who is writing the letters to her parents saying that she's alright? When a man closely connected to Valerie is found murdered, Morse reopens the case and is determined to solve it.
