About This Item
London: Grant Richards, 1922. First Edition, First Issue. Hardcover. Very good/Good. 78 p. 19 cm. Grey cloth in mylar-covered dustjacket. Top edge gilt. A little soiling to cream paper jacket. Upper spine chipped. Small chips and tears elsewhere. Price change in ink on spine. Spine cloth a bit faded.
Synopsis
Housman's second and final publication, in which he continues his fatalistic theme begun in Shropshire Lad. Man's only response to such a cruel and dismal life is to bravely face it until death's release. While not as widely known and acclaimed as Shropshire Lad, Housman's command of the craft remains undeniable.
