He and his men had entered by the north tower to be met with a horrifying sight - over fifty workers, too crippled, too old or too weak to make their own way out unaided. Pitch ordered his men to make a human chain to get them out down the stairwell. He was on the seventh-floor of stairwell B when the tower collapsed only to wake up some time later to find himself buried on the landing between the fourth and second floors. This is his story of how he led the survivors to safety. .
