About This Item
Fulcrum Publishing, 2009. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First edition hardcover, a "stirring expose and call to action" about climate change, inscribed both by Larry Schweiger and Theodore Roosevelt IV, who provides the foreword. Schweiger, the President of the National Wildlife Federation, writes on the title page: "Georgini-- Best wishes in your environmental career. We need your leadership. Larry Schweiger." Roosevelt, on the opposite page, adds: "Georgini, You know more about climate change that I do. Keep up the great work you are doing. Warm personal regards, Theodore Roosevelt IV." Roosevelt is an investment banker who has carried on the conservation-minded legacy of his great grandfather as the chair of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions and a member of the Governing Council of The Wilderness Society among other roles. Blurbs by folks including Thomas Lovejoy and Robert Redford. Fine book in fine jacket, and scarce signed by both (Roosevelt especially).

About Rural Hours
Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
