About This Item
Leipzig Bernhard Tauchnitz, 1862. 2 volumes. 8vo, 155 x 110 mms., pp. [iv], 355 [356 colophon]; [iv], 364, contemporary half hard grain plum morocco, linen boards, spines blocked in gilt, with the armorial bookplate of James FitzGerald Bannatyne (1835-1915) on the front paste-down end-paper of each volume. Rose Macqueen Piddington (18331928) published The Last of the Cavaliers in 1859, and The Gain of a Loss (1866), but neither of them achieved much in the way of a readership. Benteley reprinted The Last of the Cavaliers in 1863; Tauchnitz's decision to reprint the novel in 1862 thus seems rather curious, so that work must have attracted some sales.. It is now available as an ebook on Kindle and as both paperback and hardback reprint. Tauchnitz Collection of British Authors, volumes 593, 594.
