Splendidly illustrated throughout with 251 steel engravings (including 14 double-page), 54 chromolithographs (including 14 double-page), this monumental architectural survey from the 5th to the 17th century deals not merely with the architecture produced from the beginning of the Middle Ages to the end of the Renaissance, but also sculpture, mural painting, painting on glass, mosaic work, bronzes, iron work, the furniture of churches, etc..

Bindings rubbed along edges, with sporadic abrasion to leather. Ex-library copy with stickers at tail of spines, upper margin of front covers, and on inside of back covers. Bookplate on inside of each front cover. Minor and sporadic foxing throughout. Text in French. Bindings in overall good- to good, interior in very good condition.
