About This Item
(Ipswich): Emanual Wax for Pendragon Press, 1968. First Edition. Octavo. 45 pages, limited edition, 1414/2000 copies U.S. edition, facsimile signature on last page. Landscape is obviously not a play about the superficial, discernible actions and words of people who open doors. deliberately defying any neat classification, for it avoids the classic standards of action and dialogue, carefully interacting so as to present a clear and unified impression. It represents an attempt to work out a new play-form, one which enables Pinter to deal in more depth with that which fascinates him: the largely unverifiable elements in the human situation, the undefinable regions containing the whole realm of human subjectivity. Bound in 1/4 pink cloth over beige cloth, spine lettering gilt, pink endpapers, near fine with just a touch of bowing to boards.
