About This Item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1964. Octavo. Red embossed cloth, gilt and embossed spine. viii,[4],303,xiv pp. First American edition. Frontispiece color portrait, and 16 b&w photographs. Notations on front free endpaper advising edition precedence, and that the book is "from the library of artist Alphonso Ossorio," with the artist's signature in ink, and "East Hampton." Ossorio was a Filipino American abstract expressionist artist who was born in Manila in 1916. Very good plus, in a good dust jacket with what appears to be a coffee stain. More recently from the library of the noted Bloomsbury collector William Beekman whose bookplate is affixed to the front pastedown..
