Prague: Karel Zink, 1925 Octavo (19.2 x 14.5 cm, 7-1/2 x 6-3/8 in.), wrappers, 32, 24, 52pp., issues 1-4 of Year I (all published), edition of 222 numbered copies for each issue. Contributors include Josef Váchal, Anna Macková, Emmerich Alois Hruka, Broz, etc., with original woodcuts and linocuts, full-page and vignettes, and literary contributions by the artists and friends. Includes a few chapters and illustrations of Váchal's KRVAVÝ ROMÁN in pre-published form as they were in the process of completion, and as first issues they are quite significant in the context of Váchal's oeuvre. Editor Emmerich Alois Hruka (1895-1957) is noted for his graphic work, with special emphasis on the erotic and grotesque. He is often associated with Váchal and considered himself a disciple of JV. Hruka's work and interests drew on the visionary, occult and magical arts. Six library holdings in North America. This set in near fine condition.
