About This Item

Cover and four illustrated plates by Václav Vrbský. Vilem Szpyk (1902-1939) was an original talent, a Czech modernist who worked with photomontage poetry and was loosely associated with surrealism. Vrbsky (1895-1970) worked in a variety of media, led the Czech and Viennese Artists Association in the 1930s, and known primarily for his work as a teacher., Inspired by Poetism and Surrealism, Szpyk's photomontage poetry is also featured in Toman's Photomontage in Print.
