First edition. One of 500 numbered and signed copies, printed at the Spiral Press from the original blocks. Marbled paper over boards with printed cover label. Nine fables of Aesop, with full page woodcut illustrations on Goyu paper. Lower corners slightly rubbed, still a fine copy, with the original glassine, which has some chips and edgewear. In addition to Frasconi's signature on the colophon, he has inscribed this copy on the first blank leaf to Herman Cohen of the Chiswick Bookshop, dated December 1964.

Sewn binding. Signed, dated, and numbered by the artist. Lise Melhorn-Boe: "The text of 'Mending' is a poem by the American poet Hazel Hall. Hall was born in 1886, and lived for most of her life in Portland, Oregon. Following a bout of Scarlet Fever, at the age of 12, she was confined to a wheelchair. Hall took in sewing to help with the family finances, and 'Mending' is one of thirty-three poems she wrote about needlework. "The cover of each copy of the book is a pair of pants, or chorts, or, in one case, a short denim skirt. The first page is a collared shirt, the second a piece of household textile. Next follows a nightgown or pair of pyjama pants, and the last page is a T-shirt. Most of the garments came from friends and family.

Lawrence, Father Bernard Walke, Jack Clemo, John Whitworth, Thomas Hardy, Charles Causley, Canon Hawker, Patricia Beer, and Sabine Baring-Gould. Lavishly illustrated with scraperboard drawings by Alan Richards. These drawings range from quarter-page images to two-page spreads. The boards are covered in a paper printed with another scraperboard drawing by the artist. 12 1/8 x 8 3/8 inches. 48 pages. Number 128 of an edition of 326 copies (36 of which were hand-colored under the direction of the artist). Signed by Richards and Harrison.
