About This Item

Michael Joseph. First UK edition published by Michael Joseph in 1960. This is a near fine copy. The jacket is very clean with no loss. The unclipped wrapper displays the correct price of 15s net. The spine is a shade toned with light rubbing to the top. The book has very little wear at all and no previous owner's ink. The author Roald Dahl has signed boldly to the title page in the typical felt pen that he signed many books with. He has signed without dedication.  Dahl's collection of macabre short stories that also included for the first time "The Champion of the World" a precursor to his classic children's novel Danny Champion of the World. A rare book to find in this condition and signed by Roald Dahl.   . Near Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1960.

Synopsis

Eleven Devious, Shocking Stories from the Master of the Unpredictable. What could go wrong when a wife pawns the mink coat that her lover gave her as a parting gift? What happens when a pricelass piece of furniture is the subject of a deceitful bargain? Can a wronged woman take revenge on her dead husband? In these dark, dangerous stories Roald Dahl explores the sinister side of human nature: the cunning, sly, selfish part of each of us that leads into the territory of the unexpected and unsettling. Stylish, macabre and haunting, these tales will leave you with a delicious feeling of unease.
