About This Item
New York, NY: Harper & Row, 1975. First Edition, First Printing . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Ex-Library. EX-LIB/UNCIRCULATED copy. Text/BRAND NEW. DJ/NF; under library mylar. Biography and literary criticism of English novelist, short story writer and poet [Joseph] Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936), who was born in India. Famous for the Jungle Book (1894), Just So Stories (1902), and poems "The White Man's Burden", "If", and "Gunga Din", most of Kipling's works didf not center on India. This volume consider his life and his works as a whole. Of interest, Philip Mason (who also writes under the name of Philip Woodruff) also lived in colonial India, which perhaps accounts for the extraordinary empathy of this study.
