About This Item

Annapolis; (1984): Naval Institute Press. First Edition. Octavo. 135pp., The first six months of naval operations during World War I are significant for what they reveal of initial British and German reactions to the challenge of war. Furthermore, those months represent the beginning of modern naval warfare. An important feature of the book is its analysis of the impact of new technology on the conduct of operations. In 1914, submarines came into their own as weapons systems, aircraft began to play and effective roll, and surface action, conducted at high speed. Bound in green cloth, spine lettering silver, rear endpaper has a crease and small closed edge tear. A very good copy in dust jacket with some toning to spine.
