UK: Cassell, 1885. First Edition . Decorative Cloth. Very Good ++. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 1st Edition 1885. Authors own signed bookplate to endpaper. Uncommon book. Title page dated 1885, adverts at rear dated 20.1285 and 5G.11.85. Later state edition. Book is very good+ and in bright condition. Edges lightly rubbed. Contents good. Foxing to pages. Heavy in places. A nice example slightly let down with the foxing. More images can be taken upon request. Ref 17647
Synopsis
King Solomon's Mines (1885) is a popular novel by the Victorian adventure writer and fabulist, Sir H. Rider Haggard. It tells of a search of an unexplored region of Africa by a group of adventurers led by Allan Quatermain for the missing brother of one of the party. It is the first English fictional adventure novel set in Africa, and is considered the genesis of the Lost World literary genre.
