Examines the story of the forced conversion of Edgardo Mortara, a 6 year old Jewish boy, abducted by officials of the Inquisition. 350 pages with Notes and Bibliography. 5-1/4" X 8". No creases to the cover or spine. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Edges of the the are relatively clean with just one small dot of age tanning on the edge of the title page and Table of Contents page - about the size of a sesame seed. Not a remainder copy, not a library discard. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.

Synopsis

David I. Kertzer was born in 1948 in New York City. The recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1986, he has twice been awarded, in 1985 and 1990, the Marraro Prize from the Society for Italian Historical Studies for the best work on Italian history. He is currently Paul Dupee, Jr. University Professor of Social Science and a professor of anthropology and history at Brown University. He and his family live in Providence.
