About This Item
Cambridge: Ballinger Publishing Company, 1988. Hardcover. Small 4to. Black cloth with gilt spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. xxi, 274pp. Near fine/fine. Text block faintly age toned, per usual. Tight and superb first edition of this gathering of essays by a baker's dozen of economics, finance and political academics. William E. Brock (1930-2021), Tennessee representative and senator (1963-77) and Ronald Reagan's Secretary of Labor (1985-87), introduces it -- and at top of front flyleaf he boldly inscribes and signs in black fineline: "Bob / You are the best / example I know of / thoughtful, effective, decent / business leadership. I / thank you for that -- and / for your friendship. / With Vocal Respect / Bill Brock." Beneath this, editor Yochelson then inscribes and signs in black fineline "For Bob Malott / With deepest respect / and highest regard / John Yochelson / Jan 1988." Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist. Outstanding presentation copy.
