A fine signed first edition of Lisa St Aubin de Teran's debut novel, a presentation copy to the publisher Tom Maschler. The first edition of this work. Author's presentation copy, signed by the author to the recto to the front endpaper, 'To Tom, From Lisa, July 8th 1982'. Tom Maschler"s bookplate to the front pastedown. Maschler is a publisher who worked for Jonathan Cape, who discovered and published authors including Ian McEwan and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. In the original unclipped dustwrapper. 'Keepers of the House' is the author's debut novel, set in a Venezuelan valley in the midst of a drought. Written by Lisa St Aubin de Teran, known for her autobiographical fiction. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, fine, with a very small amount of bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Author's inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Dustwrapper with a small amount of edge wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine
