Unique self-published copy, n/d. Hardcover. vg. Folio. Unpaginated (56pp). Half-leather over vellum with blind-stamped initials "KS" on front board. Book rests in original tan cloth slipcase. Raised bands. Pages unopened as issued. Unique Festschrift of the Röderhaus presented to the president of the company Karl Süptitz on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The book recalls the life of Süptitz and the history of the company. "Dies Buch wurde Karl Süptitz zum 60. Geburtstag von seinen Mitarbeitern gewidmet und in einem Exemplar auf der Handpresse gedruckt. Text: Helene Wobeda / Walter Panie. Gestaltung: Franz Möller. Einband: Handbindewerkstatt H. Sperling, Leipzig." C. G. Röder was a German printing and music-engraving firm founded by Carl Gottlieb Röder (1812-1883) in Leipzig in 1846. In 1863 the company was the first to successfully adopt lithographic printing technology to music. The firm grew rapidly and by 1900 branches were opened in Paris and London. The company's buildings were heavily damaged in W.W.II. In 1960 the business was incorporated into the VEB Offizin Martin Andersen Nexö. Contents: Personal history of Karl Süptitz. Stunningly illustrated with mounted photogravures, color and b/w reproductions of drawings. One photograph show workers of Röder marching through streets decorated with swastikas on the 1st of May, another shows employees giving the Hitler-Salute during a Kameradschaftsabend. Text in German. Some age wear and staining on binding. Head and tail of spine slightly rubbed. Staining on slipcase, parts of edges slightly frayed. Slipcase in good, binding in good+, interior in near fine condition. Unique lavishly produced presentation copy. Original typewritten letter, which was presented to Karl Süptitz with the book, laid-in. Letter signed by Walter Panse. Minor foxing to leaf. Also laid-in are two music pamphlets "Tafellied" and "Zur Hochzeit", printed by Röder on the occasion of Charlotte Süptitz (Karl Süptitz's daughter) and August Thiel's wedding on 24th August, 1940. Pamphlets printed in green. Creasing to one pamphlet.
