Important study of this uniquely Hawaiian craft, complete with color plates, originally issued separately but here bound in, with binder's instruction leaf. The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, designated the Hawai'i State Museum of Natural and Cultural History, is a museum of history and science in the historic Kalihi district of Honolulu on the Hawaiian island of O'ahu. Founded in 1889, it is the largest museum in Hawai'i and has the world's largest collection of Polynesian cultural artifacts and natural history specimens. Brigham was the first director of the Bishop Museum and the most important Hawaiian ethnologist from this period. -- Light edgewear to binding, some repairs to binding and hinges reinforced; front wrapper and pp.1-2 loose, other leaves tender; light toning but overall clean; very good or better.
