London: Huchinson & Co ( Publishers) Ltd. 1st Edition. Black Boards. Very Good Minus. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Large. 381pp. First edition. No date - c 1927 ;( 1927) as a neat gift inscription to the front end paper is dated 1927. Gilt embossed lettering to the spine. Illustrated with 24 plates including a frontispiece plate as called for. Colour fold out map to the rear of the book. Some rubbing to the board periphery and to the corners of the boards. A couple of splits of 1 cm to the cloth at the head of the spine and another along the front edge of the spine, the former with slight loss of the cloth, affecting the 'L' of the title. Light shelf wear to the lower edges of the boards and tail of the spine. A slight split to the front inner hinge, though the front board remains firmly attached. A few page corners have been turned, leaving a neat crease. The fore edges are lightly soiled, though the pages are clean and tight. A very good copy.
