About This Item
Paris : Calmann Levy, 1877. Leather. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. A beautifully bound copy of Octave Feuillet's renowned work, Julia de Treur. Scarce third edition. Bound in a nicely presented half crushed morocco binding with marbled boards by Loisellier. Feuillet holds a place midway between the romanticists and the realists. He is renowned for his "distinguished and lucid portraiture of life," depictions of female characters, analyses of characters' psychologies and feelings, and his excellent, reserved but witty prose style. Rebound in a half morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally, smart, with only some very small instances of light rubbing. Internally, firmly bound and bright, although with scattered foxing throughout. Very Good
