About This Item

New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1926. Hardcover. 8vo. Teal blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration. xxvi, 582pp, (1p ad). Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Faint binding edgewear only, else tight and internally fine. Handsome 1st edition of this thick biography of the English-American actress (1865-1950). Choice autograph addition: Tipped to blank margin below the frontis-piece portrait is a large handsome Marlowe signa-ture in brown ink on heavy stock bevel-edged 3½" X 2½" card. Though not dated, she signs "Julia Marlowe Taber," which dates this early example to her first marriage (Robert Taber,1894-1900). Front flyleaf bears the circular blind-embossed ownership imprint of noted television character actor Robert Casper (1924-2020).
