Second Edition of this work on the ancient synagogue and development of the early Church. Complete in two continuously paginated volumes bound in one. Small 4to (194 x 156mm): [30],608,[6],609-1138, [38]pp, with identical additional engraved title pages showing Jews before a temple and signed "J. Goeree delin. / J. Mulder sculp" to both parts and woodcut headpieces, initials, and ornaments. Contemporary vellum, edges stained red, manuscript title to head of spine in early hand. Title pages printed in red and black, with woodcut printer's device bearing motto "Ego Iehoua vocauite iuste," the title page to the second part reading "Campegii Vitringa De synagoga vetere liber tertius: quo rectores & ministri synagogarum conferuntur cum praepositis & diaconis ecclesiae Christianae pars II." Bookseller's ticket to front paste-down: Thomas Baker, 72 Newman Street, London. A superb example, nearly pristine, with tight text block and clean, fresh pages. Furst III, 483. Text in Latin with with numerous passages in Greek and Hebrew. Vitringa was a Dutch Christian Hebraist, educated at the universities of Franeker and Leyden. Along with his "Commentary on Isaiah, frequently republished in the eighteenth century, this was his chief work. (Jewish Encyclopedia) N. B. The Bat was a magic magazine, published from 1943 through 1951, containing close-up and stage effects of every kind. It contained contributions from many prominent magicians of the area including Charlie Miller, Dr. Jaks, Bert Allerton, Charles Jordan, Frank Chapman and T. Page Wright,. Trickster monthly, first published in 1946, was also produced by Lloyd James for the magic community to keep fellow magicians up to date with current events in the magic world. Pages have some toning and the binders have some sunning to the spine as well as some shelfwear. Second volume binder has some soiling on the front cover. Many pages have fold marks across the middle as they were originally mailed folded in half from the publisher.. First Edition. Paperback. Collectible- Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Magazine.

Washington, D.C.: U. S. War Department, Corps of Engineers, 1874. Original stereoview: albumen prints mounted on printed card stock. The image is one of fifty that were published for the Geographical Explorations and Surveys West of the 100th Meridian, led by Lieutenant George M. Wheeler in 1871, 1872, 1873, and 1874. O'Sullivan was the official photographer for the 1874 expedition, and this stereoview depicts him and his camera in the ruins on the north bank of the San Juan River. The albumen prints are in excellent condition with good contrast, and the mount has only a hint of edgewear. On the back of the mount is the stamp of Robert N. Dennis, who was one of the most important stereoview collectors in the U. S. The New York Public Library's "Robert N.
